Baby Brothers

Image
We got some really great shots of the baby today at our ultrasound. We had a very active and squirmy baby and I was really surprised to see just how much of my belly this baby is taking up. There are limbs everywhere! Everything looks perfect and baby had a very strong 154bpm heart beat today. Here are some photos to share with you: Baby's Profile: Baby's Face (front view): All the little bones in the hand: Hand and Foot: The photos are a little better in person - trying to get a copy of them online is not an easy thing. But I am so happy to finally have some good ultrasound photos of this little one. So very in love. XO, Meg

Shuttle Launch, STS-133

Image
If you didn't know, today marks the final trip of the Space Shuttle Discovery . It has been a long and eventful road for this marvel of engineering and technology. However since it's planned decommission, this flying wonder has had a death sentence. The Space Shuttle Discovery is "planned" to replace the NASA Shuttle prototype Enterprise in the Smithsonian. The launch will occur today at 2:50PM MST or 4:50PM EST, launching from Cape Canaveral, pad 39A. The payload: critical backup and replacement electronics for the International Space Station. What is cool about this? We have an electronics processor box going up and one of my fellow engineers is down there right now. Bring me back a moon rock, Cindy! -D *Photo credit NASA.

Designer What?!

Image
( photo credit ) If you know me at all, you know I am a tad bit of a bag/purse junkie. I believe I take after my grandma with my love of shoes and purses. So it's no surprise that I fell in love with a diaper bag that is not only ridiculously out of my price range, but also a designer bag. This bag by Orla Kiely (which is now nearly impossible to find anywhere) pretty much rocks. And while it will probably never enter my life (since I cant even find it on Ebay any more so they're becoming more and more extinct by the day), I still like to dream about owning this adorable bag as the first truly designer item I would ever own. A girl can dream... XO, Meg

6 Months Pregnant

Image
I am 6 months pregnant this week and it hardly seems real. It's hard for me to believe how fast this pregnancy is going. I'm so grateful to still be feeling well. This belly is definitely sticking out and the baby loves to kick and squirm at both 11pm and 5am. I had an older man at Home Depot trying to guess my due date this weekend which was both cute and funny. He's certainly hoping for a June 4th baby which is his birthday. We'll be lucky to see this baby before July 4th, really! Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of posting pregnant photos on here of myself, but I know there are a few of you who are out of state and wondering. We go back to the doctor on Friday and will have a chance to see this little one's face. If there's a great photo to share, I'll let you know. XO, Meg

Spring Fever

Things currently causing me to have spring fever: 1. I'm craving peaches. (not really a spring fruit, but causing me to be excited for warmer weather nevertheless) 2. We are within walking distance to the Farmer's Market in our area. This makes me super excited. Even though it's more of a summer fever kinda thing. 3. It's been in the 60s here so I pulled out my flip flops. Which is funny because just a couple of weeks ago it was below zero for days in a row. Oh, Colorado... 4. I hear birds chirping outside. I love this. 5. Walking at the gym is not nearly as fun as being able to walk outside in the neighborhood. I don't like walking round and round in circles on the track. 6. I'm ready for flowers and gardens. 7. I have about 6 new spring maternity outfits that are dying to be worn. 8. I'm desperate for some au natural vitamin d (SUNSHINE!) 9. The day light lasts longer! I hate dark evenings. 10. I prefer the rain over the snow. I love a good Colorado thunde

Valentine

Image
We are pretty low key Valentine's Day participants. Not because we like to be all bah-humbug about it like many choose to be, but because we like to - and choose to - keep it simple. I choose to not make it a rant about commercialism or pressures on the men around the world blah blah blah... But I do like a good day to enjoy and celebrate love. I made Dustin a batch of our famous family heart shaped cookies that we grew up with, bought him a card, and a bag of M&Ms. We enjoyed a simple meal at home, and a (mostly) relaxing night. I love love and I like to acknowledge how lucky we are to have and love each other. What better way to do that than with the pink and red colors flying and a touch of handmade goodness. Hope you had an enjoyable Valentine's Day. XO, Meg Famous Traditional Sugar Cookies (recipe thanks to my mom, grandma, and every other woman in my family who traditionally makes these cookies) 3/4 cup shortening (or butter or margarine, softened) 1 cup sugar 2 eggs

Home Tour - Kitchen/Dining Room

Image
I know it's been a couple of weeks and I sort of fell of the wagon with the house tour, but here's the tour of the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen in our house is huge and I have to say, probably my favorite room to be in. We have so much space which makes cooking and baking really fun. This photo shows that on the level with the kitchen, 1/2 bath, and dining room is where the stairs go. Up the stairs to the bedrooms, down the stairs (on the left side of the photo) to the garage and studio in the basement. Then down the 3 stairs into the living room (on the right side of the photo). It's a lot of stairs, but I honestly don't mind. The kitchen and dining room are a shared space which I really like. At the back of the room is a huge sliding glass door that goes out onto a patio space. We're looking forward to putting a grill back there and a table and chairs out there to enjoy the shade in the summer. The island in the middle is enormous and it has been so amazi

Toys, Toys, Toys!

Image
I've put together a list of baby toys that I love. They are all found on Etsy because in our household, we really value things that are made by hand, with care, and not of plastic that require batteries. Yes, there is a time and place for those, but we truly love the basics and prefer toys like these rather than those filling the aisles of large chain stores. Here is a list of toys that I'd love to be able to buy or make for my baby! Dreaming of teethers and rattles like these . LOVE. A Waldorf inspired knot doll like this one . So cute. A sweet jingle ball like this one . Wooden blocks like these gorgeous ones. Stacking rings like these handmade ones. ( This is a pattern to make some by hand) And if it's a girl, I'd LOVE for her to have handmade dolls like this cutie.
