Alice is Two!

Image
Today my girl is two. The day has been full of joy and the slightest bit of sadness (on my part) as my baby isn't a baby anymore. I've always hated when people say to new mothers, "enjoy it, it goes so fast!" As if anyone in the newborn baby bubble is not enjoying that sweet little burrito baby they have swaddled up in their arms. Or as if anyone is able to actually enjoy their kid throwing a tantrum in public while they wipe their nose on your clothes and eat the last of your meal. It's funny how that goes both ways. As a mom, I am quite reflective and present to intentionally finding the joy in my children and this little life of ours. But the truth of it is: it really does go fast. Too fast. She was just a burrito swaddled up in my arms yesterday. Yesterday she was 5lbs and her newborn clothes were swimming on her and she needed premie clothes. How is she today the little firecracker that learned this week to tell me, "no way!...

Happy St Paddy's Day!

Dropping in to post a photo of my babes in green. <3 2016 has been really intense for us but it looks like we are turning the corner to brighter days. In the past month, Alice has had a virus that came with the scariest whole-body rash I've ever seen in my life. Seriously something like out of a horror film. That was scary and took some wading through to be sure it was only a virus (it was). Then, last Monday, Alice had a toy in her mouth pretending to trumpet with it when she tripped on her feet and fell face first landing right on the toy in her mouth. Queue her first visit to the ER. After an IV with lots of pain meds, they did a CT Scan on her to check for vessel damage and to check her palette for damage. Thankfully there was no damage to either so we avoided surgery. However the giant gouge in her mouth is still there and healing slowly. 10 days later it no longer makes me queasy to look at it. (So, so gross). Convincing an almost 2 year old to only eat soft foods for...

Hello, Remember Me?

It's no surprise that it's been a ridiculously long time since I last blogged. To be honest, I don't really read many blogs these days and it slips my mind that I should or could blog about what is going on in our little home and life. And just like the majority of families in the world, we are really busy with incredibly active children. To say that Julian and Alice keep me on my toes is an understatement and makes me laugh a little. I love how active they are but it doesn't slow down much around here so we live on the go a lot. Here are just a few snippets from our past year for a brief update.  We had family photos taken by a new, dear friend Kim in the fall. We hadn't had proper family photos taken since Julian was 18mos old. It was much needed and so fun. Now that Christmas is over, my focus is on finding walls and spots in my house to hang and frame these lovely shots. These were taken along the Cherry Creek Trail and are less than 5min from our...

It's been a long time. Again.

Do you ever look back on periods of your life and think, "where on earth did that time go?!" 2015 has been that way since the start. Life is busy with an active 4 year old and an even more active 1 year old! I've missed posting so. many. things. So, rather than sit here and ramble on and on, how about a catching up post in photos. Alice turned 1 on April 14th. She is so precious to us. She started crawling at 6mos old and walking at 9mos old. She's been a little dust cloud ever since. She is so sweet and a little bit of spice. In May, Dustin turned 30 and I turned 33. One of the most fun secrets I've ever kept in my life, I planned and paid for a surprise trip to Seattle for a long weekend just the two of us to celebrate his 30th. On the night of my birthday dinner, I had Dustin open one of my gifts and it was his bags packed and our itinerary for the weekend. We caught a flight 12hrs later and enjoyed 4 days in one of our favorite places. Pike Place M...

It's been a long time...

I haven't posted here in a long time for a couple of reasons. I'm even hesitant to post now for personal reasons. But to be honest, I miss being able to share our life with most of you who are reading. I can't explain all that has gone on over the past year or why it makes us uncomfortable even now. But I have friends out there that I want to share our story with and while I wish I could pick and choose who that would be, I cannot. So, here I am to catch some of my friends up on the past few months. Julian is 3 and a half and is full of energy and life. He is active and playful and fun. He is also a little wild and strong-willed at times. 3 and half is both my very favorite age of his so far, and also his hardest age so far. Some days are so wonderful. Some are incredibly trying. Alice is our wild girl. She's almost 8 months old and she's into everything. She is teeny tiny, but she is mighty! She started crawling at 6 months old and has spent the past two months...
