Our Garden

Here's an update about how our container gardening is going. We are definitely using this year as a learning curve with container gardening - it's not as easy as I thought it would be. But we have been able to harvest a tomato with plenty more on the way to becoming ripe. Our zucchini plant is really struggling. It doesn't have enough dirt in the container and it's gotten pretty beat up from the weather. It wilts very easily and may or may not produce zucchini this year. It's yet to be decided. It is flowering, just not really producing anything beyond the pretty yellow flowers. It's always been such a fool-proof thing to grow for me, so it not growing well this year is interesting. The strawberries aren't really doing much of anything at all. It's my first time attempting strawberries. I'm not sure I'll do them again. So far I'd say they are pretty underwhelming. The peppers on the far right are starting to really grow and we have two green peppers that will be ready to harvest next week I think. We started small with our container garden this year and I'm excited to try even more next year. But for this year I'm happy that we even tried and I'll be grateful for anything we are able to harvest.

  1. Looks great! Strawberries are a perennial - the saying goes: The first year they sleep, the second year they creep, the third year they leap! Be patient!
