a friday ritual. a single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. a simple, special, extraordinary moment. a moment i want to pause, savor and remember.
I've finally taken photos of the baby's room to share with you. And while I sometimes feel like this room will never be "done" (whatever that even means), I decided that it's time to just show it as it is - a work in progress for a little one soon to arrive. (click on the photos to see them larger if you like) I made the flag banner by hand, as well as the painted artwork hanging on the wall. On the shelf is a green piggy bank from grandma, a piece of art that I made, and some vintage blocks. I had the photo frames already thrifted and repainted. I made these fabric hangings just by stretching vintage inspired fabrics that I love over embroidery hoops. Just to add some color to the side of the room with the closet. This is probably my favorite part of the room. There is no overhead lighting in our house so I put together a group of Chinese lanterns and we hung them from the ceiling. The large white one actually lights and is connected to the light switch on a dim...
We chose colors for the baby's room this week. I started knitting a baby blanket this week that will be using this yarn. These will be the colors in the baby's room along with some chocolate brown. I love the names of the yarn colors: "Lemongrass and Aloe." In case it's hard to tell, its a very yellowy-lime green and an aqua blue. Many people have asked me about a "theme" for the baby's room. Well, to be honest, I'm not really the "theme" type. I don't really decorate that way. So there will be no theme to speak of but I will be collecting pieces of art for the room that I love. No animal or event or iconic themes for me. Nothing that looks straight off the shelves of a chain store. But I'm looking forward to maybe even making some art for the baby's room. I'm really enjoying this time post-holiday chaos to really start to think about the baby. Almost half way! XO Meg
If I'm telling the truth, it's that I kind of forgot I had a blog. It came up in conversation today with a dear friend of mine and I was like oh man, it's been a very long time since I even pulled up my own blog. So in good Meg fashion, here's my 2018 "It's been a long time" post. Julian is 6 and loving first grade. He's reading at a third grade level and thriving in school with a wonderful teacher this year. He has this toothless grin that is one of my favorite things. Ever. He loves to talk about the Titanic and he loves to sit and draw pictures all day long. He's such a happy, snuggly boy and loves all things science, dinosaurs, and legos. Alice is about to turn 4 in a couple of weeks. She is so much sweet and so much sass and so much fun. She has been home with me this year and we've had a lot of fun just the two of us while Julian goes to school. She's done a little bit of ballet and gymnastics this year and...
